This December, Lisa Batiashvili begins her term as Artist in Residence with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with three performances of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto conducted by the academy’s music director, Sir Antonio Pappano (7, 9 10 December 2017).

“I have an incredible connection with the Santa Cecilia musicians,” remarks Lisa. “This is not only one of the world’s greatest orchestras but also one of the most friendly and open-hearted groups of people. Antonio Pappano and I get on very well. We performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto together at the Concertgebouw last year and I’ve rarely experienced it done with such lightness and grace. The piece reminded me of Mozart for the first time, which was so special and so true to Tchaikovsky’s intentions.”

In February she will return to perform Prokoviev’s Second Violin Concerto with Manfred Honeck, a regular guest conductor of the Auditorium Parco della Musica (8, 9, 10 February 2018). She closes her residency in May with a chamber music concert where she will be joined by François Leleux to perform Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe (9 May 2018).
