Lisa Batiashvili will be the featured soloist at the annual Staatsoper für alle event in Berlin, held on June 21. This free concert takes place on the historic Bebelplatz, and also features the Staatskapelle Berlin and State Opera Choir, led by Daniel Barenboim. She will play Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, reuniting with the Staatskapelle and Barenboim following their recent “electrifying” performance of the work at London’s Royal Festival Hall: “Lisa Batiashvili was the ferocious soloist in Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, intense in the first movement, luminous and heartfelt in the second, scintillating in the quickfire finale. It was a faultless performance, enthralling and electrifying . . . Batiashivili played as if singing an aria.” (The Guardian)

In addition to Tchaikovsky, the evening programme includes Wagner’s “Einzug der Gäste” from Tannhäuser and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor. The concert will be streamed live online via the Staatsoper’s site, with an archive of the stream available via ARTE Concert for 90 days following the event.
