Lisa Batiashvili joins the London Symphony Orchestra in performance for the first time in ten years, this summer at the Barbican Centre. The concert takes place on 9 June, and features a spectacular programme including Dvořák’s Overture to Othello and Symphony No. 8 in G Major, in addition to Bartók’s masterful Violin Concerto No. 1, featuring Ms. Batiashvili as soloist. Conductor Daniel Harding takes the podium for this not-to-be-missed event, a highlight of the LSO’s season at the Barbican. Of her 2014 performance of the concerto with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Classical Review said: “No violinist on earth is currently playing the instrument better than Lisa Batiashvili. In her performance of Bartók’s First Violin Concerto Friday she was again utterly fearless, speaking through her instrument with supreme confidence.”
